Summary
The movie follows Alex (Evan Whitten), a lonely and bullied teenager who lives in Kansas City with his mother. He is still mourning the death of his father, who succumbed to cancer. His mother decides to take him to visit his grandfather in San Javier, Mexico, hoping to cheer him up and reconnect him with his roots. There, Alex discovers a young chupacabra, a legendary beast that supposedly attacks livestock and drinks their blood, hiding in his grandpa’s shed. He names it Chupa and forms a bond with it, despite his grandpa’s warnings.

However, their friendship is threatened by Quinn (Christian Slater), a ruthless government agent who is obsessed with capturing and exploiting chupacabras for scientific and military purposes. To save Chupa and stop Quinn’s evil plans, Alex teams up with his cousins and some masked wrestlers who are part of the Lucha libre tradition.
