summary

Olga (Marina Foïs) and Antoine (Denis Ménochet) are a French couple who decide to leave their stressful urban life behind and move to a remote village in Galicia with their teenage daughter Marie (Marie Colomb). They buy an old farm from an elderly woman (Luisa Merelas) who lives with her mentally challenged son Lorenzo (Diego Anido). They plan to renovate the farm and install wind turbines on their land as part of an ecological project.

However, their arrival is met with resentment by two local brothers Xan (Luis Zahera) and Eusebio (Melchor López), who own most of the land in the area. They see Olga and Antoine as intruders who threaten their traditional way of life. They also have a personal grudge against Lorenzo, whom they blame for killing their father years ago.

Xan and Eusebio start harassing Olga’s family with petty acts of vandalism, intimidation, and sabotage. They also try to persuade Lorenzo’s mother to sell her land to them instead of Olga. Olga tries to reason with them but Antoine becomes increasingly frustrated by their hostility. He decides to confront them head-on despite Olga’s warnings.

Review

The Beasts has won 48 awards and received 32 nominations at various film festivals.

The Beasts is a movie that is exciting and suspenseful all the way through. It stars some really good actors from Spain and France. It is also a story that teaches us an important lesson.

The world is becoming a place where people are not being as nice to each other. Some people are treating people who are different from themselves badly. People who are from different countries are not being treated with kindness.
